Hyland Cinema 70mm Project

Size comparison from 35mm film to a 70mm film

In the era of digital projection, 70mm has been having a small comeback
thanks to directors like Christopher Nolan. At times it has been easier
to acquire a 70mm print of Interstellar than a 35mm print.

We love our 35mm equipment but a 70mm projector would be a great
option to have. The image quality from 70mm projection is second to
none!

We could never afford a 70mm projector once 2012 came along because
all our efforts went towards a Digital projector just to stay in
business. The 70mm project became even more elusive and expensive after
that.

We needed a 70mm projector donated to us. Well 2020 may have introduced
a worldwide pandemic but it also dropped a 70mm projector into our
projection booth! It's a dual 35/70 model which means it can run 35mm
and 70mm.

Our plan is to swap out one of our current 35mm projectors for the 35/70 model.

This is only the first step towards 70mm glory. It needs many parts and
accessories to become functional but it's a good start. The 70mm
project continues with a hopeful future.
