"Young Farmer" follows the journey of 7-year-old Roman a 7th generation farmer, who is deeply passionate about agriculture. Growing up on the Boyd family farm, located just outside Langton, Ontario, he takes pride in being the seventh generation of farmers, continuing a tradition that spans 164 years. Roman will receive seeds, plants, and necessary supplies for his assigned plot on the farm, which measures 35 by 100 feet. With guidance from his father, Greg, a sixth-generation farmer, Roman has carefully selected his seeds and planned his crops. He will manage his produce and sell it at the Simcoe Farmers Market, keeping all the earnings from his efforts. The film documents Roman's experience from planting in April through harvesting in October as he embraces his identity as a young farmer. Additionally, Roman's siblings, 14-year-old Connor and 12-year-old Lauren, also have a keen interest in farming, and we will highlight their contributions to the farm in their own distinct ways.
