Mindy & Hailey Scott
After years of involuntary movements and doctor’s appointments with no clear understanding of what was causing her issues, Hailey Scott was officially diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome in 2020. As time progressed, her tics (both motor and vocal) spiralled to the point she could no longer function on her own. These tics became so severe that she started having 4-5 non epileptic seizures a day. Her doctor recommended looking into a service dog to mitigate her symptoms and stop the seizures. Due to the cost of a service dog, her mother Mindy Scott fundraised the needed amount, with help from the community they live in. Now Hailey and Mindy raise awareness for Tourette Syndrome every year while raising money to help someone local in their community as a way to give back. This year they are helping a young woman who needs a prosthetic leg. They welcome you to join them at the premiere of “I Swear” at the Hyland Cinema where Hailey and Mindy will discuss their journey with hopes of advocating for acceptance for not only Tourette’s, but anyone dealing with a disability.
