Thelma

Revenge Has Never Been Sweeter

THELMA

A HILARIOUS REVENGE COMEDY STARRING JUNE SQUIBB!

NOW PLAYING!

When 93-year-old Thelma Post gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson, she sets out on a treacherous quest across the city to reclaim what was taken from her. Inspired by a real-life experience of writer-director Josh Margolin’s own centenarian grandmother, Thelma puts a clever spin on movies like Mission: Impossible, shining the spotlight on an elderly grandmother as an unlikely action hero.

THELMA FILM REVIEWS

"One of the most soul-satisfying movies to premiere at the 2024 edition features no drug dealers, whistleblowers or bloodbaths. It’s about a sweet 93-year-old grandma who collects marbles and rides a mobility scooter. Writer-director Josh Margolin imagines, quite cleverly, what a 'Mission: Impossible' film might look like for a 94-year-old woman, but he doesn’t scrimp on deeper issues either. 'Thelma' is at its best when it touchingly addresses the complexities, challenges and liberations of age. Squibb is beyond wonderful in the role as she revels in rebellion while also imbuing Thelma with relatable vulnerability. And, good God, is she funny."

Johnny Oleksinski, New York Post (FULL REVIEW HERE)

"'Thelma' is such a lovely little film largely because of how much Squibb brings to it (including doing all her own stunts). Squibb knows the tough tonal tightrope here of realism and goofy humor, and she nails it. Thelma is a strong, confident woman, but this is also a film about companionship, and those relationships like grandmother and grandchild that can define us. People are going to love it. See it with someone you love.
