Beans and Respect Are Coming This Friday to the Hyland Cinema!

NEW THIS WEEK!

Beans

Inspired by her own childhood, writer-director Tracey Deer’s debut feature tells the story of a young Mohawk girl in Kanehsatà:ke amidst the 1990 Oka Crisis. A refreshing look at the lives of Indigenous youth and families that’s told with heartbreaking honesty, the film brings awareness to the oppression and discrimination Indigenous people continue to face 30 years later. While the ongoing standoff forces her to grow up faster than she deserves, 12-year-old Beans (Kiawentiio, in a phenomenal performance) is bright and brave as she cares for her younger sister and discovers herself and her place in the community. Timely and touching, Beans is a powerful reminder of the resilience, beauty, and love Indigenous communities hold.

Above: What you see on our website.

These two graphics show the same screening, but the diagram is flipped showing the stage at the top or bottom.

On the website it shows both reserved seats and the six feet of seat space around them seats as "Occupied". We do apologize for the confusion, but you are safe coming to our cinema with our reserved seating system. You will never be placed within the six feet of another without your consent.

Additionally we encourage all patrons to come at least a half hour before the show. This is because selecting seats takes extra time at the registers and we want everyone in to see the awesome trailers!
